The Italian artist tells us his ideas and inspirations
My work represents my feelings and sensations. I imagine that in my soul there is this magical world, and everyone has one. I use this frame as a link between the real and make-believe. My work is just a mirror to my soul.
I first installed photoshop on my pc whene I was about 15 and I remember thinking this program could make all my ideas real.
I started testing each tool and filter without looking at any books or tutorials. I wanted to learn everything by myself to develop my own style just like a painter does with brushes and colour
.
I was always attracted to surrealism. I love Caravaggio and Dalì, so I think I've been inspired by their art. Strangely no digital artists really influenced my work.
I always try to imagine what the final image will look like. Sometimes I sketch it out on paper to cement the idea a bit more. Then I'll find or shoot the photograph that will act as the base - usually it is an image of myself. I approach each project differently and I mix up how I manipulate each image.
I mostly use the brush tool. I just click on it and start drawing. My top tip would be to use the 'define brush preset' to create your own brush.
Experiment, experiment and experiment. Photoshop is so full of tools you have to discover them for yourself. Imagine it as your own laboratory. Free your mind and start creating whatever jumps into your head.
I started my digital-art adventure using Flickr (www.flickr.com) as a place where I found tips, criticisms, inspiration.
Then I found deviantart (www.deviantart.com) which is full of useful tips, resources and great artists
In 3rd position there's fotocommunity (www.fotocommunity.com), another great place to share photos, images and ideas.
My last commission was for the gallery Artesgarro (www.artesgarro.com). The theme was 'THE MYTH' My last personal project was 'METAMORFICAMENTE'
A project divided into two parts: the first one is Metamorfica, and consists of images of metamorphosis of people from something material.
The second part is MENTE (mind) and consists of images of intense emotions.
My personal website is www.fabiopanichi.com
and I'm on Flickr too www.flickr.com/fabiopanichi and I'm represented by Trigger Images.
