THE SKELETON TUTORIAL

This tutorial is going to show you how to create a surreal college of a two-headed rabbit skeleton all from one photo taken in a musuem.

It was written by the very talented Jorge Machado from www.m-evolve.com

1. First I wanted to create a New document, so I hit File > New. The presets I chose are shown below. (I like to work on a big canvas.)

2. I filled the background with black (hex code, #000000), using the paint bucket tool.

3. I copied my source picture and pasted it onto the image. Note that, when you paste an image into a Photoshop document, you’ll see that there is a new layer.

4. So that now we have something that looks like this:

5. Next, we want to resize that skeleton. Left-click the layer you want to resize, then click Edit > Transform > Scale. IMPORTANT: when you resize the image, keep SHIFT pressed. This will maintain the proportions as you change the scale.

6. If the image on your screen looks something like this, we’re ready to move on.

7. Then simply select the skeleton layer and press CTL or CMD 'J' to copy it. Now, select the new layer, and click Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. You’ll see that the new layer is now a mirror image of the original.

All you need to do now is to select the move tool (shortcut 'V') and move the duplicate layer around until you are happy is it aligned. One easy way to do this is to bring up the smart guides from the VIEW menu. These dynamic lines will pop in and out of view to help you align objects on your canvas.
